art therapy

At Embody + Mind Collective, we offer many services including art therapy. These services are provided by a registered art therapist here on staff. Art therapy is an intuitive therapy that has been used in the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, chronic illness, grief, and much much more.

In line with our mission of being a body centered practice, art therapy taps into the wisdom of both the body and the mind. This approach can be layered with other therapies and is often tailored to each of our client’s unique needs in treatment.

What sets art therapy apart is that it provides our clients with the opportunity to gently explore themselves beyond words alone. Sometimes in order to paint the full picture of the human experience, what our clients need is to incorporate a bit of color, shape, and movement into the mosaic of their lives. Creative art therapy has helped many clients find clarity, hope, and peace on their healing journeys.

No matter what you have on your plate, our art therapist can work with you. Embody and Mind Collective believes in providing top notch quality care. This is why our therapist is qualified and consistently receives ongoing training in the field of art therapy.

We provide support across the lifespan:

Art Therapy for Children and Teens

Art therapy is often used in the field to treat children struggling with mental health concerns. It is also utilized to help guide children through crucial stages of development. Many children respond well to art therapy due to its soothing, exploratory, fun, calming, and playful nature.

Art therapy possesses countless possibilities for creativity. Our registered art therapist has experience with children of all ages and is trained to provide the most effective care for kids at each stage of development.

Children’s brains and bodies work hard to develop them into the wonderful people they will soon become. Because they are still developing, art therapy can provide children and teens with additional channels to express themselves in a safe, healthy, and regulated environment.

Art therapy can be used as a tool to gently explore and guide children through their emotions. Whether your child is in elementary school or entering their teen years, our art therapist is excited and ready to help you on your journey.

Art Therapy for Adults

Art therapy has been used in the field to treat many mental health conditions in adults. No matter how old we get, we never lose the ability to be creative. But sometimes, we may lose touch with that side of ourselves.

Art therapy is a dynamic and diverse approach that can help adults heal in many ways- from finding relief from overwhelming emotions to building skills to become more mindful.

Despite the existing connotation around art therapy, it is not just for children! Our trained art therapist has experience treating grief, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, stress, trauma, and much more in adults.

Art therapy is a holistic and body–centered approach. By tuning into yourself via art therapy, you can fine tune your ability to become more aware and thus more empowered to make change in your life. The ultimate goal is to help you navigate through  many of the curve balls that life throws your way.
